SUSTAINNOVATION WORKSHOP

 

 

 
 
 
SERDANG, 9 - 11 May 2024—The Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia (FPP, UPM), has collaborated with the Fully Residential Schools Management Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia, to organize a Sustainnovation Workshop. The workshop, held for three days and two nights, was officiated by Tuan Ab Aziz Mamat, the division's director.
 
 
 
 
 
TheThe Sustainnovation Workshop is the first series of the "Raikan Inovasi @ SBP" program planned under initiative #20 of the Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP; Fully Residential Schools) Transformative Plan, which is the Cultivation of High-Level Thinking Skills in 21st Century Learning. According to Dr. Sharifah Intan Sharina Syed Abdullah, who leads this workshop with nine other team members, the Sustainnovation Workshop is designed to cultivate an innovative mindset among students and teachers. This initiative seeks to nurture young innovators committed to addressing sustainability challenges while providing valuable exposure to product commercialization avenues and fostering collaborative partnerships and collaborations across education levels and industry.
 
 
 

Under the theme of "STEM Innovation for Sustainability," the Sustainnovation Workshop had 225 participants, including 71 teachers and 142 SBP students from across Malaysia, four teachers and eight students from primary schools around Selangor.
 
 
Eight experts, including Dr Sharifah Intan Sharina herself, have shared their experiences with the participants on using knowledge and skills to produce more meaningful, responsible innovation and innovative products. The other experts involved are Dr Jazihan Mahat, Assoc. Prof. Dr Zaida Nor Zainudin, Dr Muhammad Asyraf Che Amat, Dr Aini Marina Ma'rof, Assoc. Prof Dr Habibah Ab Jalil, Dr. Arnida Abdullah from the Faculty of Educational Studies, and Dr. Diyana Nawar Kasimon from the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication.
 
 
 

UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, upon visiting the program, expressed his hope that the Sustainnovation Workshop and "Raikan Inovasi @ SBP," which was held for the first time this year, will become annual events, reaching an even broader audience in the years to come.
