What is meant by the Faculty of Education?

The Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP) is one of the primary faculties at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), dedicated to leading academic excellence, research, and professional services across the fields of education and human resource development. Guided by its vision "Leading in Educational Studies", FPP serves as a vital center of scholarship that produces competitive graduates, authoritative educators, critical thinkers, and professional practitioners through multi-level degree offerings (Undergraduate and Postgraduate) such as Guidance and Counseling, Language Education, Agricultural Science, Sports Education, Technical and Vocational Education, as well as Human Resource Development.

    Who should students contact if they require academic advice or welfare/personal support?

    Undergraduate students may refer to their respective Academic Advisor (PA) or the officers at the Academic & Student Affairs Office. For postgraduate students, you may discuss the matter directly with the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee ot the officers at Graduate Studies & International Office.

    Students can join the main student association of FPP, FEDSSCO (Faculty of Educational Studies Student Coalition), or join the respective departmental clubs and associations aligned with their field of specialization.

    Are the academic programmes at FPP recognised by the government and professional bodies?

    Yes. All programmes offered by FPP have received full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and are recognised by the Public Service Department (JPA) and relevant professional bodies (such as the Malaysian Board of Counsellors (LKM) for the Counselling programme).

    Students facing financial constraints can apply for assistance, zakat, or flexible payment options through two primary channels:

  • Office of the Deputy Dean (Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni) FPP: Provides advisory services, emergency student welfare assistance, and guidance on applying for various external sponsorships or scholarships.
  • Center for Management of Zakat, Waqf and Infaq (WAZAN UPM): Offers Student Zakat Assistance schemes (such as Tuition Fee Assistance, Living Allowance, and Emergency/Disaster Relief) for eligible students.
  • Please visit the Office of the Deputy Dean FPP or the WAZAN UPM Office located at the UPM Mosque Building for consultations and application arrangements.

    How can external visitors, schools, or institutions arrange a benchmarking visit or an educational study tour to FPP?

    Official visit requests can be submitted in writing via an official letter or email to dean.educ@upm.edu.my. Please include the proposed date, number of participants, and purpose of the visit for further action.

    Does FPP provide facilities for rent to external parties (e.g., Halls, Lecture Rooms, Meeting Rooms)?

    Yes, FPP provides venue facilities such as Halls/Lecture Rooms and Auditoriums, subject to availability. Applications and the rental rate schedule can be referred to FPP Facilities.

    Who can use FPP Resource Centre facilities?

    FPP Resource Centre facilities are primarily provided to meet the needs of students and lecturers of FPP in their learning, teaching, and research activities at UPM. FPP Students can also make use of facilities such as reading area, computers, reference collections, and discussion rooms to support their academic activities.

    Are farm tours or outdoor learning areas open to visitors?

    Yes. A visit to the FPP Agricultural Science Education Farm can be held as one of the learning activities and exposure to outdoor education facilities provided by the Faculty of Educational Studies. Among the facilities available at this farm include a fertigation greenhouse, nursery, plant shade house, soil and compost mixing station, chicken breeding area, student training field and student briefing room. For the purpose of visiting, interested parties are advised to obtain permission and make an application in advance to the FPP (dean@edu.upm.edu.my) to ensure that the visit can be coordinated properly.

    Can the sewing and make-up facilities at FPP be used or rented by outside parties?

    Yes, external parties can apply to use FPP facilities on a rental basis, subject to the availability of facilities and approval by the faculty. FPP also has expertise in the field of sewing and clothing technology, including the Clothing Technology Laboratory which is used for teaching activities and community development programs.   
    FPP also provides a booking form for the use of facilities which includes categories of tenants from the government, statutory bodies, government agencies, business bodies, private and private parties. Rental rates and conditions are subject to current FPP regulations. For inquiries regarding the latest facilities, sewing and make-up programs and rental applications, interested parties are advised to contact the FPP Administration Office for further information and confirmation.
