KUALA LUMPUR, February 10, 2026 – The Faculty of Education extends its highest congratulations to Dr. Haji Shamsudin bin Othman from the Department of Language and Humanities, Faculty of Education, for successfully securing Second Place in the Poetry Group Category in the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Creative Writing Competition.
He brought home a cash prize of RM15,000.00 during the award presentation ceremony held at the Tun Syed Nasir Cultural Hall, DBP Wisma. The prestigious ceremony was officiated by YAB Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, the Deputy Prime Minister.
The DBP Creative Writing Competition is one of the prestigious platforms that gathers the best works in the field of national literature, covering four main categories: Poetry Collection, Short Story Collection, Stage Drama, and Novel. A total of 16 winners have been crowned in this edition.
The success of Dr. Haji Shamsudin has proven his continuous excellence in the field of creative writing and his high commitment to elevating the Malay language and literature. This achievement not only makes the faculty proud but also brings honor to the university at the national level.
