FPP Enlivens the Reading Culture thru the Read@Uni Program

Serdang, April 23, 2026 – Amidst their daily routines, the staff of the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) remain committed to fostering a culture of knowledge by participating in the Read@Uni: Let's Read Together program organized in conjunction with the World Book and Copyright Day celebration. This program is part of the Read@Uni initiative introduced to cultivate a reading culture among university members consistently and inclusively.
Thru a simple yet significant approach, this program provides space for faculty members to allocate at least 10 minutes for simultaneous reading activities. Although the duration is short, the impact is clear as the atmosphere of the Reading Corner transforms into a calm and conducive space, reflecting the FPP community's commitment to appreciating the value of knowledge. This initiative aligns with the Read@Uni aspiration, which emphasizes that the practice of reading does not require a long time; instead, it can be nurtured continuously thru small but consistent steps.

This program is also enhanced with a reading material sharing session by Prof. Associate Professor Dr. Nor Aniza Ahmad, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate Studies and Alumni). She shared a brief discussion titled "Choosing Happiness in Life: Soul Essentials," which emphasized the importance of balancing personal happiness and inner peace thru reading and self-reflection. This sharing reinforces the role of reading not only as a medium for acquiring knowledge but also as an approach to building emotional and spiritual well-being.

The organization of the Read@Uni Program at FPP clearly reflects the faculty's continuous efforts in supporting the agenda of fostering a reading culture at the university level. It is hoped that initiatives like this can be continued and expanded so that the reading culture continues to thrive among the campus community, thereby producing an informed society that thinks critically and balances, in line with UPM's motto "Knowledgeable and Service-Oriented".
