Serdang, 29 May 2025 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the Faculty of Educational Studies has recently organized the National TVET Convention 2025 on 27 and 28 May 2025 at the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM. Themed “TVET for Sustainability and Food Security”, this convention aims to strengthen the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in creating a competitive skilled workforce and supporting the country's sustainable development agenda.
 
This convention will bring together various stakeholders including academics, policymakers, industry players, students, and the community to share knowledge, experiences, and discuss strategies to strengthen the TVET ecosystem in Malaysia.
 
The opening ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Manndzri bin Haji Nasib, Chairman of RISDA representing the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development. He also officially launched the National TVET Convention, the TVET Excellence Laboratory (Agricultural Science Education) and the Seewo Smart Classroom.
 
After the launch, the guests of honour and delegates were taken to tour the new facilities including the TVET Excellence Lab and Seewo Smart Classroom, as well as an exhibition pavilion showcasing innovations in agricultural education.

Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Manndzri bin Haji Nasib in his speech said, "This launch marks an important step in UPM's efforts to support human capital development in the agricultural sector through technology-based TVET education, thus strengthening its role as the main reference center for agricultural TVET in Malaysia. The noble efforts of the Faculty of Educational Studies to organize this TVET Convention clearly demonstrate UPM's commitment to strengthening the TVET ecosystem in the agricultural sector and food security."
 
According to Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, Vice-Chancellor of UPM, "One of the major achievements today is the launch of the TVET (Agricultural Science Education) Excellence Lab and Seewo Smart Classroom. This facility is not just a physical landmark, but it reflects UPM's progressive approach in providing the learning infrastructure of the future. It will be a center of training and innovation, supporting the smart agriculture agenda and technical education based on technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and digital learning."
