Inclusive Agro Urban Agriculture Pilot Project for the Visually Impaired as a UPM-MAB MoU Initiative

BRICKFIELDS, 8 March 2024 - A total of 4 academic officers from the Faculty of Educational Studies, School of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia have attended as experts to the Inclusive Agro Urban Agriculture Pilot Project at Dewan Ismail Md Salleh, Headquarters of the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB).

The expertise lineup are Associate Prof. Dr. Nor Wahiza Abdul Wahat (Project Leader) and Dr. Normala Ismail from the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), Mrs. Saadiatul Ibrahim from the School of Business and Economics (SPE) and TS. Dr. Ng Keng Yap from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM). The briefing session was led by Dr. Normala Ismail.

The Head of the UPM-MAB Volunteer Squad from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ms. Ong Xin Yi together attended in the programme. To date, there are a total of 51 UPM students who have been registered as members of the UPM-MAB Volunteer Squad. The registration was conducted by Anisa Hanani Ahmad (Head of the FPP Volunteer Squad), Farah Mazrin Mazlan, Nur Alia Sofiah Muhamad Azuan, Norsadatinatul Asha Mohd Amdan (Head of the SPE Volunteer Squad), and Ong Xin Yi (Head of the FPSK Volunteer Squad).

UPM expertise presence is aimed for a briefing session to 20 visually impaired people who are also the MAB members about the planning and implementation of the 'Inclusive Agro' Urban Agriculture Pilot Project based on the Internet of Things (IOT) for the visually impaired. The aim of the briefing is to obtain the registration of 20 visually impaired people for this pilot project.
