INAUGURATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LAGRIBIO PROJECT AT THE CHILD WELFARE CARE CENTER BRDB RATORY SERI KEMBANGAN

SERI KEMBANGAN, 20 April 2024 (Saturday) - Agricultural experts from the Faculty of Education (FPP) have inaugurated the implementation of the Little Project of Agriculture and Biodiversity (LAGRIBIO) with 4 staff and 58 children as project participants at the Child Welfare Center BRDB Rotary (BRCR) Seri Kembangan.

Project Leader and Farm Coordinator FPP UPM, Ts. Dr. How Shwu Pyng said this project is the first community empowerment project to receive financial allocation from BRCR Seri Kembangan since they established a cooperation network with UPM through the MOU. "This FPP project has been recognized by the University Community Transformation Center (UCTC) as an agricultural knowledge transfer project with an external grant.

"This is the starting point to strengthen the involvement of the BRCR Seri Kembangan community in growing vegetables without soil as one of the university's initiatives to safeguard the well-being of the people through food security," he said.

He added that the participants were exposed to the concept, planting and maintenance techniques of the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) hydroponic system, which was presented together with UPM's agricultural expert Ms. Nurul Azika Abdul Jalil, Mr. Uzaini Mohammad Yusoff and Mr. Mohammad Sallehhuden Samah from FPP Farm.

This FPP project was also inaugurated by Encik Adib Nava Rengadhar as the Principal of the Center together with FPP management members represented by Ts. Dr. Mohd Hazwan Mohd Puad as Head of the Science and Technical Education Department (JPST). The opening ceremony ended with the handover of the guide module to BRCR Seri Kembangan and an afternoon tea.
Through this project, it is hoped that the close network between BRCR Seri Kembangan and UPM can be continued and expanded in conjunction with the implementation of the LAGRIBIO Project for a year with the FPP Farm team.
