Forum of Apprentice Entrepreneurs Driving Economy and Food Security in Southeast Asia

 

 

Riau, Indonesia, 2 August 2024 (Friday) - A total of 10 Bachelor of Education in Agricultural Science with Honors students in the final year of the Faculty of Education, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) together with 3 accompanying lecturers namely Dr. Normala Ismail, Dr. Riyan Hidayat, and Ts. Dr. Mohd Hazwan Mohd Puad has organized an international forum entitled "Entrepreneurs who drive the Economy and Food Security in Southeast Asia" held at Integrated Agricultural College in Riau Province, Indonesia.

 

 

 

This forum was attended by three panel members who have a high level of knowledge, especially in the field of agriculture, namely Brother Ilham Permana Putra - Alumni of SMK Negeri Pertanian Terpatan Baru Pekan Baru who runs Hydrofarm Pantara, Memory Anne Paduma Nainggolan, SP - Head of the Agrobusiness Expertise Concentration of Horticultural Crops, SMKN Integrated Agriculture, Dr Normala Ismail - Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Education Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

 

 

 

This forum aims to give awareness to the young generation about the importance and role of young entrepreneurs to a country to ensure the country's food security. In addition, it also aims to open the eyes and minds of the young generation about the challenges and opportunities provided by the government and NGOs in either Indonesia or Malaysia in helping young entrepreneurs especially to carry out agricultural activities. With this forum, the two countries are able to exchange ideas and alternative measures in dealing with economic problems and ensuring food security in Southeast Asian countries in particular and the world. Forum participants also had the opportunity to interact with industry experts and thought leaders to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of agriculture. This program received a positive response from various parties and it is hoped that it can have a positive impact on economic and agricultural development in Southeast Asia.
