Serdang, 21 April 2026 – The Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to strengthen its commitment to Green Campus practices thru the organization of a Used Oil Collection Program in conjunction with the celebration of Earth Day 2026. This initiative is implemented in line with the practices of the Public Sector Conducive Ecosystem (EKSA) and supports the United Nations agenda thru the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This program has received an encouraging response from the faculty members. The results of the used cooking oil collection show the high commitment of the campus community toward environmental preservation, while also promoting more systematic and impactful recycling practices.
The funds obtained will be redirected to support the implementation of green sustainability programs and EKSA activities in the departments and offices at FPP.

In an effort to foster a spirit of healthy competition and active participation, several departments have received recognition based on the amount of contributions successfully collected. The Department of Professional Advancement and Continuing Education (JPPPL) emerged as the champion, followed by the Department of Language and Humanities Education (JPBK) in second place. The FPP Administration Office secured third place, while the Department of Science and Technical (JPST) came in fourth.
According to Ms. Noorizajune Abu Bakar, Chief Assistant Registrar of FPP and Program Coordinator, the organization of this initiative has a significant impact on sustainability efforts at the faculty level. "The organization of this program not only supports sustainability practices and more responsible waste management but also contributes to the achievement of several SDGs, including responsible consumption and production as well as climate action." It also reflects the effectiveness of the EKSA implementation in fostering a clean, organized, and sustainable work environment," he explained.
He added that the reception received proves that FPP members are increasingly aware of the importance of green practices and are ready to continue supporting initiatives that have a positive impact on the campus environment.
Thru programs like this, FPP UPM hopes to continue fostering awareness among campus residents to be more mindful of the impact of daily activities on the environment, thereby strengthening efforts toward a sustainable and prosperous campus.
