Serdang, 30 July 2025 – The Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has been involved in the production of a video titled “Selera Putra: Dari Ladang ke Meja Makan”, a strategic initiative driven by the UPM Corporate Strategy and Relations Centre (PSPK). This video is among the university’s latest efforts in increasing the visibility of UPM’s expertise and products to external audiences through a fresher and more community-oriented approach. In this video, viewers are taken on a journey of food from agricultural sources to the dining table, while also showing the close relationship between university research results, agricultural products and the expertise of academic staff.
Also participating in the cooking demonstration was Associate Professor Dr. Wan Marzuki Wan Jaafar, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies, along with academic staff, namely Puan Anis Zakaria, Dr. Rahimah Jamaluddin and Dr. Nurul Ain Saipudin, experts in the field of Home Science, Department of Science and Technical Education. They utilized various fresh products from UPM such as duck eggs, salted eggs, chicken, frozen quail, MD2 pineapple, catfish, mushrooms and many more to produce a menu that was not only delicious, but also provided added value in terms of nutrition and food source security.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Wan Marzuki Wan Jaafar, “Through this video, we can highlight the expertise of FPP members in their respective fields, in addition to supporting the Agriculture for the People (PUTRA) agenda. This is a reflection of how the university not only creates knowledge, but also translates it into a form that can be directly utilized by society,” he said when met during the recording session. He also added that FPP’s involvement in initiatives like this provides added value not only to the faculty, but also to the university’s reputation as a whole. Food production using UPM’s agricultural products shows that the university is capable of providing a complete value chain – from research, production to actual use.
This effort is in line with UPM's goal as a leading institution in the field of agriculture and education, which not only produces quality graduates, but also supplies safe, nutritious and high-quality products to the community. "From Farm to Table" is a step forward in ensuring that the results of innovation and expertise of UPM people continue to find a place in the hearts of the community, thus raising the name of the university to a higher level.
