Serdang, 29 November 2025 – His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), graciously presented the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Education (Extension) to YBhg. Dato' Dr. Haji Mohd. Fadzilah bin Kamsah at the 49th UPM Convocation Ceremony.
This recognition is given for his significant contributions to the fields of extension education, human capital development, and knowledge transfer to the community, in line with UPM's history as an agricultural-based institution.
Dato' Dr. Mohd. Fadzilah, a former UPM lecturer for over 16 years, is a key figure in strengthening the university's relationship with the community thru the transfer of knowledge, technology, and skills.
In his acceptance speech, he said, "This award is not only a personal honor, but also a recognition of our collective efforts in ensuring that the country's agricultural and food security agenda continues to benefit current and future generations."
Development education is a very meaningful vehicle for the transfer of knowledge and social innovation for UPM. It plays a strategic role in boosting agro-food productivity and building a high-performance work culture.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Education Studies (FPP), Associate Professor Dr. Wan Marzuki Wan Jaafar, stated that this award is very meaningful because Dato' Dr. Mohd. Fadzilah is among the individuals who laid a strong foundation for extension education at UPM. FPP is proud of this recognition. His contribution strengthens the role of extension education as a bridge between universities and society, thus supporting UPM's aspirations in agriculture and community development."
