This success saw three groups of Year 2 students showcasing creativity, pedagogical skills, and the ability to integrate digital technology in promoting reading practices to the community, in line with the nation's literacy aspirations and 21st-century education.
First place was won by the group consisting of Ammar Firdaus Rosidi, Ahmad Hanif Muhaimin Mohd Azhan, and Hadzreen Fakhry Fahsyeen Kamarul Shahrin. Meanwhile, the runner-up position was secured by Nur Amira Waheeda Mohd Zaki, Norami Farhani Hairolnizam, and Nabila Qistina Mazli, while the consolation prize was won by Nur Fazlyana Jamaludin, Nadia Nabila Mohd Nazri, and Nur Atiqah Othman.
Each entry successfully showcased fresh ideas, clear messages, and effective delivery in promoting the importance of reading culture thru a creative video medium that resonates with the current generation.
Interestingly, participation in this competition was integrated with the program "Technology Integration in Reading Skills Activities for Form 3 Students in Religious Stream Classes (KAA)" at SMK Seri Indah, Serdang, which was conducted on January 15, 2026, by Bachelor of Malay Language Education with Honors students from Semester 3. This program provides students with an authentic learning experience in content planning, effective delivery, and selecting appropriate reading materials to be applied in video format.
The highest appreciation and thanks are extended to Dr. Halimah Jamil, lecturer for the LHE3105 Malay Language Reading Skills Teaching course, for her continuous guidance and encouragement which motivated student participation in this competition and allowed for the full utilization of the reading program implemented.
As future educators, participating in this competition has provided valuable exposure in strengthening communication skills, teamwork, creative thinking, and self-confidence. UPM is optimistic that this success will be a catalyst for organizing more literacy, innovation, and experience-based learning programs and competitions to further promote a reading culture within the community.
